The Summer Art Program Coordinators are wondering if there is anyone among you who might be interested in teaching a 2 1/2 hour (9-11:30 am) workshop to children (either elementary or secondary level or both groups at different times) during the weeks of July 16-27. We still have six time slots to fill (3 teachers if they will do both groups) and there is a small stipend involved.

It is a free 1-day workshop. Students will be introduced to fundamental techniques behind today`s hit songs with easy and FUN to follow exercises. The Songwriting Workshop offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the art of songwriting at any level. Ellen "Red" Dunn, 79 of Chiefland, passed away May 14, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Lewis County, KY on April 22, 1933 to the late Curtis and Evelyn McClees. Mrs. Dunn was a homemaker and member of Rosewood Baptist Church. She was most proud of her family and loved Jesus, her church, singing, praying and Bible studies.

Donna Lee Kenyon, 73, of Chiefland passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was born in Canton, OH and moved to Chiefland from Punta Gorda in Aug. of 1990. She was a homemaker and noted by her family as a very good cook. Mrs. Kenyon loved playing the piano. She was very active in all aspects of her church including playing the piano. She loved her Lord and her family very much.

Mon, May 14th 2012 Obituaries

William Larry Martin, 67, of Bronson passed away on May 9, 2012 while on vacation with his family. Martin was born in Winnesboro, LA, and moved to Bronson at just 6 months of age. After graduating from the University of Florida in 1967, he entered in the United States Air Force where he was an Instructor Pilot in the Advanced Jet Trainer. Captain Martin spent the next five years serving his country before moving to South Florida in 1971. While in Ft. Lauderdale he was a pilot with Delta Airlines as well as a contractor specializing in industrial, commercial and whole subdivisions.

An Old Town man was injured Friday when he collided with a sturgeon that had jumped out of the Suwannee River in front of his boat.

Floyd Ray `Bear` Lester, 81 of Chiefland passed away May 7, 2012 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland. He was born in Coffie County, Alabama to the late Joe Tom and Gedie Lester. He served his country in the US Army and was a Military Police. Mr. Lester was a member of Hardeetown Baptist Church; he was a Mason and a retired truck driver. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, tennis and all sports and was a member of the Chiefland Golf and Country Club, where he was Club Champion in 1974 and Super Senior Club Champion in 1996. But his number one enjoyment was his family.

Eight buddies and a retired couple spent May 5-7 taking off from the Cedar Key airport in improbable flying machines that can fit in the back of a station wagon. No pilot`s license required, but a little training is recommended. Flying higher than 13,000 feet is against the rules. Check eBay for bargain equipment.

The Cedar Key Woman`s Club is proud to announce that the fundraising for the Gainesville Fisher House Foundation has been very successful with the help of the Cedar Key community. On May 8 a check for $2000 was presented to Patricia Fabiani, Executive Director for the Fisher House Foundation. The money was raised from a raffle which took place in March at the Annual Fashion Show.
