March 30, 2021

Among the Cedar Key Community Garden’s goals are the intent to give back to the community and enthuse others, perhaps, to grow a garden in their own backyards.  Monday morning’s gathering of gardeners epitomized those two goals.

The Cedar Key Community Garden established its Seed-Give-Away Program the fall of 2017.  Gardeners collect seed through the summer and fall. Members put seeds into envelopes and put them in a waterproof container by the entrance to the Garden. Visitors may take up to three packets of seed.  There is a donation box next to the seed.  If visitors wish to donate, it is convenient to do so.IMG 20210329 100933742 HDR

Since 2017, the Seed-Give-Thus faraway Program has paid the Community Garden’s water bill.  Visitors are generous with donations.

This Monday, March 29, 2021, gardeners gathered to fill seed packets as they were running low.  The morning’s activity will sustain the seed box for months to come.

Thanks particularly go to Tom Devrin who orchestrates everything, from seed, to scotch tape, to seating, to seed packets,  to water for the packers, and to clean up.

Thanks, too, to Denise Feiber, Anne Miller, Colin and Linda Dale, John McPherson, Dan and Carol Wilcox, Lois Benninghoff, and Jenn Webb.

The Garden truly is a Community Garden that gives back to the community and hopefully inspires visitors to begin their own.
