Obituary

Dawn Ann Ward, 44, Kokomo, IN died Monday, September 7, 2009, at her home. She was born December 12, 1964 in Kokomo, the daughter of Ralph & Sandra (Bucher) Chapman. On July 8, 1994 in Cedar Key, FL, she married Donald R. Ward, Sr. and he survives.


Dawn was a 1994 graduate of Webster University. She was a homemaker and enjoyed arts and crafts and was a skilled gardener. Dawn and Don recently moved back to Kokomo, having spent the past 17 years as residents of Cedar Key, Florida.


Survivors include her husband Don Ward of Kokomo, Son Matthew Ryan Davis of Cedar Key, FL; daughter, Amber Hole of Kokomo; three step-sons; Donnie Ward of Oklahoma, David Ward of Kokomo, Tony Ward of Kokomo; her mother Sandra Chapman of Ft. Wayne; step-mother, Margie Chapman of Kokomo; father, Ralph Chapman; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one brother, Lee Chapman of Arizona; three sisters, Renee Shanks and her husband Chuck of Peru, Starr Chapman of Ft. Wayne, April Deich and her husband Jerry of Kokomo; two step-brothers, Dale Hill of Greentown, Joe Hill of Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Jeremy Edward Shelby.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Rev. Mark Markley officiating. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children`s Foundation, 30 South Meridian St., Ste 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204 or to the Autism Society of Indiana, 4740 Kings Way Drive, Ste. 7, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
