VERIZON CELL UPDATE

At the Cedar Key Water and Sewer District’s July 12, 2021, Monday evening monthly meeting, General Manager Chad Wisdom updated the group about the status of Verizon’s progress in installing cell phone equipment on the District’s water tower on Whiddon Avenue.
Wisdom reported that Verizon personnel have recently installed the concrete pad upon which its generator will be placed. When asked how long it would be before Verizon would complete installation of the necessary equipment and be ready to serve the community, the Verizon staffer responded, baring no unforeseen complications, approximately five weeks.
The City of Cedar Key, its Emergency Operations Director Robert Robinson, the Cedar Key Water and Sewer District, its previous General Manger John McPherson, and a handful of dedicated citizens have worked tirelessly to outfit the island with better cell and internet services.
This Version connection should provide the island with reliable cell phone coverage. The internet service from WiFiber now offers the island reliable, fast broadband internet and has been in place for the past nine months.
