Cedar Key News is finishing its first full year of publication as 2004 approaches. For twenty months we have been covering the news of Cedar Key and the surrounding community. Our readership and list of contributors have grown, doubling in the first ten months, and again in the second ten months. We now publish about twenty articles and columns each week, with local news the focus. Starting this month we provide full coverage of Cedar Key government publications. All items are archived and available through our search engine for weeks and months after posting. This is particularly important with the coming Comprehensive Plan Revision process. We appreciate this vote of confidence from our Commissioners. This is an appropriate time to give credit to our volunteer contributors. They are: Rev. David Binkley, Rev. James Campbell, Sara Campbell, Toni Collins, Pam Darty, Jim Hoy, Holly Jones, Maureen Laundress, Rev. Chris Martin, Robin McClary, Sioux Rose, Joan Phelps, David Scarratt, Mike Segal, Leslie Sturmer, Lovett Williams, Bob Witman, and the Cedar Key Sharks` journalism class under the guidance of Carmen Doyle. The policies and style of Cedar Key News are determined by our seven member board of directors, namely Sarah Campbell, Jolie Davis, Aaron Hoover, Jim Hoy, Molly Jubitz, Maureen Landress and Mike Segal. We acknowledge the financial support and encouragement of our advertisers and dues paying members, without which we could not provide the "news of the people, by the people, for the people". Cedar Key News is a non-profit on-line newspaper. We use surplus funds to sponsor events such as the candidates` forum prior to Cedar Key elections. With your support we expect to continue to serve the Cedar Key community. |
