This is Nairobi, a six-year old Basenji that was adopted recently by Karen Gallup and her husband Al when they visited Cedar Key during the winter. Karen and Al make Ann Arbor, MI their summer home, and Nairobi went home with them this spring, a few days after she was adopted from a Basenji rescue organization in south Florida. Nairobi, like other Basenjis, does not bark but makes a vocalization called a "yodel." According to Karen, "she`s the sweetest thing going," showing other traits, such as being funny and doing the "Basenji 500," racing around and around in a blur. |
