Helping kids start the new school year right is the goal of the "Pack the Porch" program sponsored by the Eagles Club in Cedar Key. The fraternal order is soliciting donations of paper, pens, pencils (#2 please) and other school supplies for students at Cedar Key Schools. "Make your gift of school supplies or a check any day or weekend between 1 and 8 p.m. at the Eagles Club," said Dave Feigin, Eagles Trustee. "There`s a big need for kid-sized back packs," he added. A marked box on the front porch of the red and white clubhouse at the corner of 3rd and B Streets is there to collect donated items. "Give early, school starts August 24," Feigin urged. "And while you`re there," said club president Don Smith, "pick up a membership application inside the clubhouse. You don`t have to join to help the kids, but we invite you to look us over." |
