Cedar Key, the USDA Rural Community of the Year | Cedar Key, the USDA Rural Community of the YearStaff Writer Cedar Key, on February 3, held a celebration of being named USDA Rural Community of the Year. A luncheon attended by ninety officals and community dignitaries preceeded presentation of the award. The luncheon was provided by nine Cedar Key businesses. Five Cedar Key service clubs served food, drinks and porvided deserts.  Mayor Sue Colson(standing), behind USDA Director of Rural Business-Cooperative Programs Joe Mueller who presented the Community of the Year award.
