In other Garden Club news:

Brazilian Pepper is a noxious, invasive plant taking over hundreds of thousands of acres of Florida land. This alien plant threatens biodiversity and crowds out desirable native plants. Cedar Key is fighting this invader.

Learn to identify and eradicate Brazilian Pepper at a training session in Cedar Key on Thursday, December 4th at 10:00 a.m. Come to Rye Key to see the plants, learn how to recognize them and how to get rid of them. This is a project of the Cedar Key Garden Club, with assistance provided by the University of Florida Extension Service, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.

Those wishing to participate in the eradication need to wear long sleeved shirts, long pants and boots or sturdy shoes. Gloves, safety glasses and materials are provided. Call 543-6007 for directions or additional information.

Also:

Marci Wilcox has extra copies of "The Guide for Real Florida Gardeners" in case you did not receive one at the last meeting. You do not need to be a garden club member to get a copy, so please let her know if you want one. It is free; it is published by the Association of Florida Native Nurseries and has some nice pictures and information about native plants.
