Congratulations to Janis and Bobby McCabe of 12850 Whidden for being selected as the Cedar Key Garden Club October 2009 Garden of the Month. Janis and Bobby have a wonderful "work in progress" garden in front and in the back of their home, a 1927 Cedar Key original. In building their garden and walkways, they rearranged existing plants and then began adding mostly native plants. The garden includes azaleas, hibiscus, powder puff plants, lemon grass, confederate jasmine, spartina and pampas grass. Also included are passion flowers, Japanese Magnolia and many others. There is a delightful brick walkway under a trellis feature through the garden into the back yard. A wooden carved totem that washed up into their yard during a storm has found a permanent home in their back yard garden. Congratulations to Janis and Bobby for their hard work in creating their own Eden in Cedar Key. |
