Library Friends Host "Picturing America"

Library Friends Host "Picturing America"

ANNOUNCEMENT

Update on "Picturing America:" After a very successful program detailing a number of the works featured in the series of poster-sized reproductions, the library has agreed to keep the display on view in the upstairs meeting room of the library through April 2. The public is invited to stop by anytime the library is open to see the exhibit.

The collection of 40 images will now be included in the general collection of the library for use by patrons. For the summer months, the posters will be displayed at the Cedar Key Arts Center.

The Friends of Cedar Key Public Library are pleased to announce a special presentation of "Picturing America" at the Annual Meeting of the group on March 20.

A short business meeting will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon, followed by "Picturing America," a collection of art reproductions given to the library by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Many schools in Florida were recipients of the spectacular reproductions of American art, but very few libraries received the set.

Viewing all 40 of the large format poster-sized reproductions gives the viewer an intimate look at the history of the United States through its best art and artists. To bring many of these works to life, a number of Cedar Key residents will each speak briefly about one work or artist in a variety of media.

The public is cordially invited to attend this special presentation, followed by a light collation.
