FREE Health Screenings & Flu Shots Friday

ANNOUNCEMENT

Lions Club Sponsors Health Fair
Free Health Screenings & Flu shots March 5

The Cedar Key Lions Club is sponsoring its 5th Annual Community Health Fair at the 6th Street Community Center on Friday, March 5th from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm.

The Cedar Key Lions Club invites everyone in the community to attend and take advantage of the free health screenings and resources available to participants.

"Levy county has recently been rated as the third least healthy county in the entire state by www.countyhealthrankings.org, making the free screenings at the Lions health fair all the more pertinent to the health and well being of our community," said Rory Brennan, President of the Cedar Key Lions Club.

Free health screenings include bone density tests, diabetes screening, blood pressure tests, BMI , GRIP, oxygen level evaluations, along with free vision and hearing screening courtesy of the Lions Vision Van.

Free H1N1 swine flu shots will be also available, while seasonal flu shots can be had for $20 (free for Medicare part B participants.)

Fasting blood tests by LAB CORPS will be available from 9:30 am until 11:30 am for a nominal fee of $5 to $10.

Lion Roland Senecal, whose wife Eileen, a registered nurse, is organizing the Health Fair says, လAt our last health fair, we had the best turnout yet for our annual wellness check up. Many of our Health Fair participants are surprised to discover they have diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, high cholesterol problems, or sight or hearing problems. We hope everyone can attend, because early detection of potential health threats can save sight, hearing, and lives.ဝ

The Lions Club Vision Van, the Lifesouth Blood Mobile and area health care providers and representatives from the Veterans Administration, Social Security, Medicaid Department of Children and Families, Homecare Services, Haven Hospice, Area Health Education Center, The Center for Independent Living, the Levy county Health Department, the American Cancer Society, The Center for Independent Living and others will have information and staffed booths at the Fair.

Breakfast and lunch will be available, provided by Cedar Key Lions Club for a nominal donation.
