Black Beard`s Treasure and Gift Shop With expectations of opening for business June 11, Black Beard`s Treasure and Gift Shop is a new concept in entertainment in Cedar Key. The shop has 30 computers for customer Internet connection and three big screen television screens for sports viewing. Free soft drinks, popcorn and hot dogs will be available for customers using the computers. There will be a customer age limit of 18 and older. A special feature of the shop will be the opportunity to win up to $3,000 in a sweepstakes open to Internet users. The sweepstakes entry is similar to sweepstakes offered by fast food establishments. Dane Powell, a partner in Black Beard Treasure Corp., told Cedar Key News that he has two years` experience in this type of entertainment business, with shops established in Lake City and Gainesville. He added that Cedar Key needs a tourist attraction beyond eating, drinking and fishing. Mr. Powell is originally from a small town in Texas and anticipates moving to Cedar Key. He has hired Joey Key to manage the shop. |
