Fanning Springs, Florida - Progress Energy will be presenting a check for $15,000 to Pure Water Wilderness, the Dixie-Gilchrist-Levy Tourism Development Board, on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fanning Springs City Hall in Fanning Springs. For the second year in a row, Progress Energy has generously supported Pure Water Wilderness in meeting its match requirement to obtain a Regional Rural Development Grant from the State. Over the past two years Progress Energy has donated $35,000 to Pure Water Wilderness, which has resulted in a total of $140,000 of public and private funds to promote nature-based tourism in Dixie,Gilchrist and Levy Counties. Pure Water Wilderness was formed in 2000 to promote nature-based tourism in the tri-county area, which stimulates the local economy. PWW publicizes events and recreational activities, and the web site serves as a clearinghouse for information on all of the tri-county area Chambers of Commerce, and for anything you need to know about recreation, lodging, restaurants, outfitters, and more.
