Dakota Hunter Wins Award By Claire Brown Dakota Hunter, a senior at Cedar Key School, took 2nd place in the state of Florida for an essay he wrote about the `Portable Assisted Study Sequence` (PASS) program. Dakota was in the PASS program this past summer. The purpose of the PASS program is to give students the opportunity to retake a high school credit as needed. Dakota was nominated by Ms. Pam Alexander for `Florida PASS Student of the Year`. "Dakota has always been a student I could count on to do his work on time and well," says Ms. Pam on why she chose to nominate Dakota. To achieve this award, Dakota had to write a 300-500 word essay about "How PASS helped him get back on track to graduate with his class." Dakota was given a little over a week to write this paper which was graded by a committee from the State. Dakota took second place and missed getting first place by 0.2 of a point. He won $100 for his work. He will now move on to compete for `National PASS Student of the Year.` Buy a Bag of Halloween Candy!
