By Claire Brown Aaron Robert Esposito, a.k.a A-Ron or Es-po-si-to, is the older son of Dean and Tina Esposito. He has one younger brother, CKHS Freshman, Justin Esposito. His two best friends are, CKHS senior, Ryan Alford, and CHKS junior, Matt Tysinger. His favorite teacher is Mr. Whitman and his favorite class is Marine Science. In his high school career Aaron has participated in Cross Country, Basketball, Baseball, and Track and Field. After he graduates next month, Aaron plans to attend Santa Fe Community College. His choice word to describe his senior year is busy. Of all his years at Cedar Key School, Aaron says his most memorable moments are the Marine Science trip out to Seahorse Key, the ninth grade water-balloon fight, and the sight of the first homerun he ever hit. His least favorite, yet memorable, moment at CKS was when he had to be taken out of a district basketball game on a stretcher after falling and injuring his back. Aaron says his favorite hobbies are playing baseball and mudbogging. "The Rookie" and "Field of Dreams" are Aarons favorite movies. Aaron says duct taping, fellow senior, Zoe Stuber to a chair in Marine Science has been the most comical prank he has played. In his lifetime, Aaron wants to visit any place outside of Florida. Aaron thinks living in Cedar Key is a two-edged sword; it has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, everyone knows everyone and therefore everyone knows everything about everyone. She has been active in FFEA for many years and has also held the office of secretary for FFEA. During her time spent in FBLA Lacy has competed in district competitions and placed in the top three. She also participates in Teen Trendsetters, where she helps younger kids read after school. Lacy`s 2009-2010 reading partners are Caroline Wohlfeil and Joan Smart. Not only did Lacy participate in clubs she played softball and was a cheerleader during her underclassmen years. During her junior year the cheer squad took first place at the Disney competition for small squads. Lacy has recently been accepted to Santa Fe College in Gainesville and will take classes there to further pursue a career in nursing by getting her License Practitioner Nursing (LPN) license. As Lacy goes off to college, she will miss some of her best friends including Ryan Alford, Aaron Esposito, Aubrey Pope, and Matt Tysinger, though she claims "Ryan is her best best friend!" As a pending Cedar Key graduate, Lacy reminisces about one of the most memorable experiences that occurred in the 9th grade. The high school students were helping out on field day and at the end of the day her class got into a huge water balloon fight. Here`s how Lacy described it, "We were all soaking wet and dirty, but we were laughing and just all getting along! It was great!" Lacy leaves us with the comments that "Cedar Key will always be her home," but she is ready to get out! She also says that as she continues to get older and ready to be out on her own she will always remember the memories she has had at Cedar Key School, from hula-hoop contests to reading Hamlet. Salutatorian Sara Miller

Salutatorian Sara Lindsay Miller who is also called "Golden Girl" and "Mother Miller" is the granddaughter of Arthur and Hilda Purdy and daughter of Michael and Susan Miller. She has four brothers, Tyler Miller, Ben Miller, Joey Miller, and Colby Cemer. Sara has given a lot to the school and many teachers and students have said "I don`t know what we will do with out her." Sara has been active in Sr. Beta, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Government, Marine Science, Future Florida Educators of America, Teen Trendsetters, Book Club, Impact, and Gavel Club. She also played Basketball. With all of the activities she has participated in Sara believes she has became obsessive compulsive about being in control. Her favorite class is Marine Science and Sara has spent lots of time on Marine Science field trips and fundraisers. She started helping in the Marine Science club during her seventh grade year. Sara wishes that she could have taken a home economics class at Cedar Key, but could not pick a teacher to teach it. She says "I love all the teachers, they are all my favorites!" Sara`s most memorable moment at Cedar Key School was Grad Bash 2009 with her best friend Evan Lyons. During her senior year Sara pulled her favorite comical prank. She filled the boy`s water bottles with blue dye, on the Marine Science field trip, "It was great to watch their mouths turn blue!" With Sara`s busy schedule balancing college and high school classes and clubs she hardly gets free time but, when she does she loves to watch movies, go for a bike ride, read, bake, or paint. Her favorite movies are "Tristan and Isolde," "Pride and Prejudice," "Remember the Titans," "Troy," and "300." Sara leaves the words of wisdom "be a leader not a follower" to the students at Cedar Key School. She hopes that she has impacted elementary students to always be a leader and let them know that you don`t have to follow others. Sara is thankful that she happened to end up in Cedar Key. "It has truly been the best six years of my life. I love the community, my teachers, and my friends. Though I am excited to further my education I will miss all of my amazing moments here at Cedar Key School!" says Sara. She believes that the community is a huge family and have grown really close, but when tragedy strikes that makes it harder because it affects everyone. After graduation Sara will attend the University of Florida and earn her bachelors of science in Nursing and get a specialization in Obstetrics. She hopes to work at an accredited hospital and travel to "Alaska, Italy, Greece, Australia, well travel the world!" Salutatorian Caely Hibbits
|
"We`ll figure it out" was Caely Rose Hibbits, Salutatorian of 18-Credit Graduation option, motto through out her high school years. As Cedar Key`s guidance counselor Ms. Jennie Lynn said "Caely is driving the bus and we are just hanging on for dear life!" Caely was nicknamed "Shorty" and "Peanut" because of her small size as a child. She has one brother Jordan Adams and two sisters Jessie Adams and Amy Hibbits. Her parents are Laura Adams and Pat Hibbits. Caely has always had a loving relationship with Spud, her eight year old dog. Caely will graduate from high school on the eighteen credit college prep plan. During her three years of high school the classes she most enjoyed have been Journalism and Marine Science. She commented that she has "enjoyed at least one piece of every high school class and could not be graduating with out the help of each and every one of them." Caely participated in Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, Cheerleading, Track and Field, Journalism, Teen Trendsetters, Student Government, Gavel Club, Sr. Beta, Future Florida Educators, Book Club, and Impact Club. These sports and clubs have filled her with her most memorable moments. Although Caely does not have much down time when she manages to find some, she swims, reads, and of course loves to travel. The lyrics to the song "You Gotta Be" by Desree are words that Caely believes in. Caely said that she has pet peeves about being without her watch, picas in the yearbook, and not having enough lunch. While most of the time in school Caely was too nervous to play big pranks she managed to pull a great one during her senior year. She took a picture of the desktop screen; set it as the background, and disabled the icons, which meant that no matter how much clicking the computer stayed on the home screen. Caely claims "it was worth all three detentions!" After graduation Caely will attend the American University of Rome in Italy and hopes to earn a degree in Communications. Caely tells how living in a small town has allowed her to be the big fish and that when she is in Rome she will be the minnow and that is scary but, she hopes to make her mark on Rome and let Rome make its mark on her. Caely had confidence that the community was always behind her, which at time was hard because she felt responsibility to an entire town and it is difficult not to let anyone down. As Caely leaves she hopes that people learn to fight for what they want, believe in them selves, listen to everyone but, make the decision for yourself. |
