TENTATIVE BUDGET HEARING
September 6, 2016
 
Meeting Specifics
The Cedar Key City Commission met on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 7:10 pm at the Cedar Key Community Center, not City Hall, because of Hurricane Hermine.  The hearing convened immediately after the Cedar Key City Commission meeting adjourned.
Present were:  Mayor Heath Davis, Vice-Mayor Dale Register, and Commissioners Sue Colson, Royce Nelson and Diana Topping.
 
Staff in attendance included:  City Attorney Norm Fugate, Police Chief Virgil Sandlin, Fire Chief and Emergency Operations Manager Robert Robinson, City Clerk Nicole Gill, Crystal Sharp, and Donna Risker.   City Public Works Director Bill Crandley was not in attendance.
 
Among those in the audience were: Ann O’Steen, Doris Hellerman, Nicki Rucker, Chris Topping, Mac and Nita Cox, John McPherson, Allison Nelson, Michael Hancock, Jeri and Bob Treat, and Mandy and Frank Offerle.
 
RESOLUTION 384 PASSED
Commissioners unanimously approved Resolution 384 which amended the Schedule of Capital Improvements dated August 8, 2016.  The schedule contains fourteen projects, the fiscal year in which they are or will be funded, the cost, and the funding source.
 
 
RESOLUTION 385 PASSED
Commissioners unanimously approved Resolution 385 which adopted the tentative millage rate of ad valorem taxes.  The tentative 2016-2017 operating millage rate is 5.3410 mills which is less than the rolled-back rate of 6.3130.  The millage rate remains the same as it was for fiscal year 2015-2016.
