CHELSEA COLSON RECEIVES PROMOTION
AND COAST GUARD ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL

 Chelsea L. Colson of Cedar Key, FL, in a ceremony on November 3, 2014, received a departing award from USCG Station New Orleans. Along with the award, titled "Achievement Medal,” Chelsea was promoted on November 1st to "SK3" (Storekeeper Third Class) or E-4.
 
The award sites her many accomplishments and services while at Station New Orleans. Among those sited are: superior performance of duty; completing nearly 400 underway hours on three different platforms including six Search and Rescue cases resulting in nine lives saved.  Most notable were her actions upon arriving on scene with a jet skier who had spent nearly 17 hours in the water on Lake Pontchartrain.   Seaman Storekeeper COLSON quickly pulled the man on board and began administering first aid for hypothermia and dehydration, ultimately saving the man’s life.

THE COAST GUARD ACHIEVMENT MEDAL
 
Seaman Storekeeper COLSON was active member in the community, annually volunteering her time with the Ocean Conservancy Group in an effort to protect and preserve marine life. Embodying the Coast Guard’s core values, Seaman Storekeeper Colson, was commended for her diligence, perseverance, and devotions to duty which are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard.
