SPECTACULAR FASHION SHOW

March 19, 2016

The Cedar Key Woman’s Club has done it again…for the twelfth time: it has produced its Annual Fashion Show.  The three-hour experience involved shopping with vendors selling everything from  aprons to jewelry, a delicious lunch of Caesar salad, chicken, and fresh fruit served to each individual (no standing in line!), some raffles, and, of course, the fashion show.

President Susan Rosenthal remarked, “This is the biggest ever.” Over 200 tickets were sold; every seat was filled.   “All of our 47 members had an important role to play in producing this gala,” she remarked.  The kitchen helpers prepared the entire meal; more members served and cleared all tables; some entertained; some modeled; many cooked desserts; husbands helped with set up chores.  Emcee and President Elect Jane Moore noted a fact that few knew: that the CKWC had fashion shows in the 1960s at the Sea Breeze.

From the dais, emcee Moore made clear the mission of the organization which is to raise funds for such important organizations as Canine Companions for Wounded Warriors.  This year the CKWC purchased five dogs for the cause.  Moore announced that the Federation of Women’s Clubs contributed over $300,000 to the Wounded Warrior program.  The CKWC has sent over 250 packages to troops outside the country since 2002.

Moore asked the audience to welcome to the podium:  Patti Jett from the Cedar Key Arts Center, Sue Wooley from the Friends of the Library, and Judy Treharne from the Food Pantry.  Moore presented each with a check for her respective organization.

These women raise dollars for incredibly needy causes, and do they have fun doing it.  This year’s most humorous character was Ms. Tacky Tourist, really a disguised Eileen Senecal.

The fashion show itself involved an able crew of ddesigners seen in the photos below.   They received a standing ovation.

The event ended with Ms. Tacky Tourist and Judy Duvall singing “Friendship” with the help of the audience.

Everyone left with smiles on their faces and, in many cases, new friends, and anxious for the Thirteenth Annual Cedar Key Woman’s Club Fashion Show.
