GARDENERS BUILD BED, FILL SEED PACKETS, DONATE TO PANTRY
2024 April 20, 2024

Gardeners are a busy lot, but most set aside time to help reinforce the mission of “community.”

BED BUILD
20240412 094006On Friday, April 12, from 9 am until an hour later, the group gathered, assembled, and placed a garden bed to replace Nancy Hanson’s / Lisa Mitchell’s standing but bedraggled bed.

The hour-long feat was made easier by Norm Hodge’s removing thebed’s soil, demolishing the bed, and hauing it away. Further easing the task was Joe Hand’s ordering and precutting all the pieces of lumber to be assembled.

In less than an hour, Vince McVeigh, Dan Wilcox, Jim Alex, Joe Hand, Denise Feiber, Tom Deven, and Mandy Offerle finished the deed.

PANTRY PRODUCE
On Wednesday April 10, Vince McVeigh harvested greens from multiple garden beds adnd delivered them to a thankful group of volunteer at the Cedar Key Food Pantry for distribution.unnamed

As we hope you know, the food Pantry serves over 100 local families that are food challenged each week. Obtaining fresh produce weekly for distribution is a constant challenge, so the Garaden’s donation is greatly appreciated.

SEED PACKETS
On March 29, approximately fifteen gardeners gathered to fill seed packets for the Free Seed Program at the Garden. Through this program, generous visitors donate dollars. The proceeds pay for Garen insurance, water, soil, compost, mowing, and more.
