During the September 11 interviews of Police Chief candidates a reoccurring question was how each candidate would deal with driving under the influence. That in turn resulted in a report by Interim Police Chief Virgil Sandlin in which he summarized the arrests for DUI in the four months since he has been in charge of the Police Department. There were no arrests for DUI in May. However, June 25 Catherine Connell of Cedar Key was arrested for DUI. In July, David Alsobrook of Jacksonville, FL and Casey M. Buesing of Cedar Key were arrested for DUI. In August, James R, Douglas of Alachua, FL and Rene Cruz of Homosassa. FL were arrested for DUI. Those five arrests are comparable in rate of occurrence to the ten arrests during the first four months of 2008 which were prior to Chief Sandlin's tenure as Chief. |
