SONGFARMERS OF CEDAR KEY...2024

2024 January 27

Around the globe, SongFarmers chapters promote local musical activities.  Currently, over 90 chapters operate in the United States. The basic idea is to return “front porch pickin” to communities.

The Cedar Key Chapter of SongFarmers was established in January of 2020, the sixth chapter to be established in Florida.  They focus on acoustic stringed instruments: guitar, bass, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, Dobro, etc. No brass nor drums are appropriate.

Now and every Sunday afternoon, musicians and the public interested in playing or listening to acoustical music will meet at 2 pm until 4 pm at the City Park pavilion.  In inclement weathe, the group meets in the Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall.

Each Friday prior to each Sunday’s performance, Songfarmers will alert musicians and the audience of possible cancellations on its Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1086041165084357/?ref=group_header

There is no charge for either the musicians or audience, according to local resident John Thalacker, founder of the Cedar Key chapter. Anyone may attend, regardless of skill level or age.
