CKWSD FAUCET
WATER BOARD SELECTS
 ENGINEERING FIRM, MORE

The Cedar Key Water Sewer District met on Monday, August 10, 2026, at its offices on Third Street at 5 pm. All board members were present: Chair Mike Borrelli, Secretary Leslie Sturmer, Joe Hand, Johnathan Ferguson, and Sue Colson.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, DISASTER RECOVERY, ENGINEERING PRESENTATIONS
In response to the formal Request for Qualifications, GPH Engineers, formerly Mittauer Engineering, and Donavan Hill Group, formerly Baskerville Donavan, addressed the board members with their ten-minute presentations, citing why CKWSD should select their company to conduct the engineering on the recently awarded CKBG grant. Both engineering firms have successfully contracted with the CKWSD in the past.

Ultimately, board members scored each team of three men from both companies and selected GPH Engineers for the project.

ETHICS TRAINING
Ethics training, as is required by higher level municipal commissioners in Florida, is required by board members of special districts. The Florida Association of Special Districts produces a link by which board members may receive the training. Planning is in progress. Key aspects of the training include oversight accountability and integrity.

WACCASASSA WATER AND WASTEWATER COOPERATIVE
The W3C will meet on Tuesday, August 18, at 1 pm at the CKWSD offices on Third Street in Cedar Key.

The Town of Bronson representatives will meet with the W3C board at 10 am on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, to resolve the W3C well issue. The well was financed and constructed by the W3C when Bronson was a part of the W3C. Now, as Bronson is no longer a W3C member, the disposition of the well is unclear.

IN ATTENDANCE
Among those in the audience were: Steve Rosenthal, Doris Hellerman, three representatives from the Donavan Hill Group, three representatives from GPH Engineers including Greg Lang, and the Cedar Key News' Frank and Mandy Offerle.
